The dim sum cart 点心车 is a constellation of affect—ritual, memory, anticipation. This reconstructed version feels more confessional than traditional. Here, the cart becomes a mobile apparatus of care and containment: warming, preserving, hydrating, masking, extending. Modular and self-sustaining, it rolls forward while evoking the fragility of the body suspended between acts of maintenance and states of dispersion. Inside layered transparent trays are cast resin and silicone replicas of mooncakes and pastries—edible forms reimagined as sealed offerings. Etched into the surfaces are recreations of Asian sheet mask (面膜) packaging: smoothing, hydration, care, renewal, gestures of promise, preservation, and surface repair. Goji berries and American ginseng—long used in Chinese medicine to balance Qi and invigorate Jing—are steeped in the central tank, their infusion misted into the air through sheets of cosmetic membranes. Preservation and presentation fold into one another. What is offered is not nourishment, but its simulation: edible memory rendered inert, intimacy mediated by vapor, transparency, and sealant.
